Earlier this week Martin Lewis (MoneySavingExpert.com) spoke for the first time on BBC Radio 5 live about his mum dying when he was just 11 years old. His open and heart-breaking interview led to an unprecedented outpouring of emotional throughout the UK. A nationwide debate about the topic of childhood bereavement ensued and Shelley felt so proud to have been a small part of it.

Dr Shelley Gilbert MBE, the Grief Encounter Founder, said during her interview today; “I was orphaned by the time I was 9 and I was left to suffer in silence”. Our aim as a charity is to ensure that no bereaved child is left to suffer in this way and that people know that there is support available out there for them.
